THE RAINBOW ARTWORK
Over the years, shaping has never been only about curves and outlines. Sometimes, experimentation continues beyond the foam — into color, texture and the final feeling a board carries in the water.
The Rainbow Artwork emerged through years of experimentation by Ross Williams (@rosswilliams), exploring new ways to finish a board while keeping the handmade character at the center of the process. Rather than a fixed design, the artwork develops organically during application, forming layered color patterns that move across different spectrums while maintaining depth and balance.
The result is a surface where tones blend and interact naturally, creating a vibrant yet refined finish that feels alive without overpowering the board’s original design.
The colors flow across the board in layered tones, forming the original Rainbow finish — a spectrum that moves through greens, pinks, yellows and cyans in shifting nuances and intensities.
The Rainbow Artwork can be applied in two distinct approaches, each offering a different expression of the same concept. The Full Artwork covers the entire bottom of the board, with color softly wrapping around the rails while the deck remains clean and white, preserving a balanced and minimal aesthetic. The Panel Artwork introduces a more defined composition, where the rainbow finish is applied as a shaped panel across both bottom and deck, creating a visual connection between both sides of the board. See the differences in the images below.
Applied across different models, the Rainbow Artwork is less about decoration and more about individuality — an extension of the surfer and the journey each board is meant to take.
Each one carries its own identity, both in and out of the water.
