IN THE MENTS WITH JUSTIN QUINTAL
It’s one of those stories that’s worth telling. Justin Quintal (@jquinny), WSL World Longboard Champion, was on a surf trip through the remote corners of the Mentawai islands, hunting perfect waves in the middle of nowhere. With a quiver consisting only of shorter boards, he found himself staring at a perfect left peeling over the reef on a day when the conditions turned glassy and ideal for logging. His only thought: "Damn, I should’ve brought my log."
As fate would have it, Justin ran into our team rider Katya Shaka (@katya_shaka). Having crossed paths in past travels and contests, Justin asked to take one of her Ross Concept log’s for a spin and turned out to be the new Magic Mix 2.0.
The board was a Magic Mix 2.0 - one of the very first ever shaped. Even though the dims weren't exactly his, the connection was instant. He adapted immediately, finding his rhythm on a board that felt like it belonged under his feet all along. The result of that session was caught on film, Somewhere in the Ments.
The Magic Mix 2.0 is a refined evolution of a proven shape. By narrowing the outline and adding extra tail rocker, we created a board that feels more responsive in the pocket and offers even more lift up front.
It’s all about the details: foiled 50/50 rails and a balanced medium weight provide that signature "locked-in" feel. This setup brings effortless tip time within reach while maintaining enough agility for fluid rail-to-rail transitions.
From those seeking a perfect blend of lift and control to surfers looking for a reliable all-around noserider, the Magic Mix 2.0 remains the ultimate daily driver. As Justin found out in those remote Mentawai lineups, when the design is right, everything else just flows.
