raw session feat ophélie in kuta beach

September brought a different rhythm to Ophélie Ah-Kouen’s return to Bali. With the swell season running a little late, the island still had a few classic days to offer, including small, clean waves that came together beautifully for longboarding at Kuta Beach.

A familiar face on the WSL Longboard Tour, Ophélie found room here for a slower pace. Days built around surfing, enjoying the island and taking some time to rest.

Along one of Bali’s busiest stretches of coastline, waves break just across the road from shopping centres, hotels and storefronts. Kuta’s energy carries into the water, where local surfers, travelling longboarders and people catching their first waves share the same lineup. Between it all, Ophélie found some of the most enjoyable little waves of her trip, with space to walk the board, settle into a line and let each section unfold.

Among the boards in her quiver was a Magic Mix II, custom-shaped for Ophélie, which she ended up riding in almost every session. With its refined outline, balanced rocker and reliable hold on the nose, the board suited the small, playful conditions at Kuta Beach. A familiar design with a few subtle adjustments, allowing Ophélie to settle into her own rhythm and make the most of what each wave had to offer.

Her stay also brought her to ORET Art For Life, a surf festival gathering the longboard community on the same stretch of sand. A chance to compete, share waves and connect with the people who make Kuta part of their everyday lives.

RAW DAYS follows Ophélie through a session at Kuta Beach, finding her rhythm among the crowd. A glimpse of longboarding in Bali, with all the movement, patience and small moments that come with surfing such a well-known lineup.
